historic building conditionS assessments
R. Edwards & Company provides historic building conditions assessments for a wide variety of organizations, municipalities, community trusts, or individuals who either own or are looking to purchase a historic home or building. A conditions assessment is a preservation and rehabilitation tool that identifies, describes, and generally evaluates the existing condition of a historic building, and provides an overview and estimated costs of the work required to prevent further degradation of the existing building and which allows the building to function properly (e.g. properly functioning site and foundation drainage, weather-tight building envelope, operational doors and windows, etc.).
For owners or prospective owners of a historic building, R. Edwards & Company strongly recommends contacting your state’s official historic preservation organization, which are exceptional at providing guidance on resources, state and federal funding, and in some circumstances can also assist with funding a historic building conditions assessment.
