Having just purchased a new home, a young professional couple sought a design for a two-car garage that would also serve to provide additional storage space as well as a workout room for the husband, a competitive mountain biker. Looking to avoid the typical cookie cutter garage, R. Edwards & Company developed a design which responded to the unique details of the Client’s home, providing a design which sympathetically harmonizes with the main house. In addition, a Frost Protected Shallow Foundation (FPSF) was specified so as to minimize the amount of concrete required, which for a garage can represent a significant portion of the construction budget. Solar studies were also conducted in the event the Client wished to install rooftop solar panels at a later date.
